Plans, Plans, and More Plans

by Ali on June 4, 2010

Plans for the week, plans for the weekend, plans for next week.  If I don’t do some intentional planning, the days pass me by and I wonder where the last season went.  Who moved my May?  See what I mean…

Hmm, let’s see-

  • refill the finch feeders
  • put up new hummingbird feeder
  • get outside with my children
  • transplant lettuce seedlings
  • finish raised bed to put the lettuce in
  • read a book with my children
  • get paint samples
  • make custom colored chalkboard paint
  • have a picnic with my children
  • cut out some kerchiefs to sew
  • make it on time for violin recital
  • spend time in the garden with my chidren
  • make Aunt LouAnn’s fabulous new salad
  • take pictures that make it look as scrumptious as it tastes
  • take a trip to the zoo with my children
  • post recipe!
  • get kids moving on their County Fair knitting
  • make some garden stones with my children
  • take pics of unpictured finished objects
  • maybe design a new knitting bag

There should be more knitting on my list.  I’m sort of enjoying some down time in between sweaters, especially since that whole hot and humid thing moved in to our formerly Frozen Tundra.  I think I may even do the smart thing and start some nifty mittens soon, you know, so I have them when the Freezing Time returns…

I have a way of creating these lists that take on a life of their own and grow at amazing, even alarming, rates.  Sometimes I just need to take a step back, tear up the old list, rethink my priorities, remember how many hours there are in a day, and start a new list.  Too much list and I start to lose sleep, too little list and I tend to wander aimlessly through my days.

My lists are like my rudders, in a metaphorical kind of way.  They help me stay on course, heading in the intended direction.  Sometimes.

Other times I just fly by-the-seat-of-my-pants and try to enjoy the ride!

What about you? What are you planning?

Can you believe it’s June?!

Happy knitting-
ali
